Master of Arts in Ministry

Admissions Requirements

After completing the online admission application, applicants must submit the following materials to the Director of Admissions to be considered for admission:

  1. Non-refundable Application Fee of US $50.00
  2. Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree or international equivalent from an accredited/recognized college or university
  3. Official transcripts from all previous colleges or universities attended
  4. Two letters of recommendation; one of the two must be from a pastor
  5. A personal statement of at least 250 words describing the student’s motivations for study at UUC

Language Requirements

Students must also provide evidence of English language proficiency. Applicants whose native language is not English and who have not earned a degree from an appropriately accredited institution where English is the principle language of instruction must demonstrate college-level proficiency in English through one of the following:

  1. A minimum score of 530 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT) or 71 on internet-based Test (iBT), 6.5 on the International English Language Test (IELT) or 50 on the PTE Academic Score Reports
  2. A minimum grade of Level 3 on the ACT COMPASS’s English as a Second Language Placement Test
  3. A minimum grade of Pre-1 on the Eiken English Proficiency Exam
  4. A transcript indicating completion of at least 30 semester hours of credit with an average grade of “B” or higher OR a transcript indicating a grade of “B” or higher in an English composition course from an appropriately-accredited/ recognized college or university.

The Master of Arts in Ministry is an integrated program for leadership in local churches, Bible schools, para-church organizations or other non-profit agencies. Students will examine a variety of subjects related directly to biblical study, theological reflection, ministry and leadership.

Objectives

The MA in Ministry will enable graduates to:

  1. Competently interpret biblical texts and apply them in their ministry contexts;
  2. Articulate a ministry vision, and competently implement goals, and planning strategically;
  3. Understand their ministry contexts and culture; and
  4. Develop practices of personal and spiritual maturity.
